The adults have separate classes from the children with the children's classes taking place Monday to Friday 5.00pm to 6.00 and Adults beginning at 6.30. I would recommend The Dojo to anyone looking for a Karate club in the East Midlands, from complete beginner through to 1st Dan and beyond, you will find everything you need to satisfy your level. With a 7th Dan chief instructor, regarded by many as one of the best instructors in this country, why would you want to train anywhere else? The Dojo offers a purpose built environment with great facilities - no more dusty old school halls! I wish I had discovered this place sooner!

I started training at the club after a break of several years being a lot older and far less fit and found it to be absolutely brilliant. The facilities are the best I've trained in of the various clubs I have attended when moving around over the years with a custom built dojo that is fully matted, air-conditioned, a mirrored wall and lots of equipment as well as changing and showering facilities. Classes run most days of the week at various times so that it is easy to find times that are convenient. Sensei Aidan Trimble is an excellent instructor who takes the time to explain how things are done in detail so that rather than simply trying to ape movements without knowing what you are supposed to be doing or why you understand how the technique works making it a lot easier to improve. He also is very encouraging breaking things down to a few key points to work on and once those have improved sufficiently moving on to the next thing. Finally the other students are worth mentioning as they are very friendly and helpful and cover the entire age range from children to pensioners making it a great social environment to train in.

The dojo is a great place to learn karate. Sensei Aidan Trimble is a fantastic teacher and a really friendly guy - as are the other members in the club. I thoroughly recommend it to any woman looking for a sport that not only keeps you fit, but teaches you how to defend yourself effectively.

Always a welcoming environment! Training facilities are spot on with the changing facilities to match. The teaching standards are second to none and whether you want to practise Karate for your own self satisfaction/confidence etc or test yourself in the competition environment, this is the place to be. Everyone is enthusiastic, supportive and friendly - 15 years on and still look forward to each lesson. Great bunch of people socially too!

My son attends the Dojo and has gained a lot of confidence, sensei Trimble is a fantastic teacher to have with all his qualifications & experience, what a privilage for the students. I am looking forward to when my daughter is old enought to join as she's already biting at the bit to get involved.

The leaflet offering a free introductory lesson at came at exactly the right time in my life even though I'm a bit older than some of the others! I joined and It has made a new person of me. A year on, I'm much fitter, over a stone lighter, certainly a lot happier and utterly committed to training for as many years as I am able. I would love to think everyone enjoys life as much as I do now and it's all due to Karate at The Dojo

I've trained at quite a few places, normally in freezing cold school halls. When I started at the dojo I was blown away by the facilities - a great training area with proper mats laid down and mirrors on the wall. Its brilliant for beginners - the instructor is really friendly and everyone helps out during those first few weeks when you're getting used to doing karate. It's a great atmosphere - once you've tried training at a club like this there's no going back!

My son started only 4 months ago, he is due to go for his first belt this weekend. He loves it. Karate has boosted his self confidence, self awareness and self motivation. We have tried many after school clubs, but this is the one for him! Sensei Trimble (and the other sensei) make Karate accessable for all...its a fun, friendly place to be. Just great :))

Martial Arts is so much more than just kicking and punching. Nowhere is this lesson taught better than at The Dojo. It's always my first port of call, whenever I return to the U.K. from the U.S.A, where I now live.

My two children, aged 8 and 10, started training at the Dojo approx 18 months ago and haven't looked back since! They attend twice a week, usually on a Tuesday and Thursday. I have found Sensei Trimble and his staff to be extremely flexible, allowing the children to attend on different evenings if we have other commitments. The children have lots of fun, whilst also learning the life skill of karate. They have gained lots of self confidence, respect for others and general all round fitness. I can't wait until my third child is old enough to join the Dojo!

I've been training at The Dojo now for nearly three years, and have no previous knowledge of any martial arts. What a fantastic place it is, there have been so many benefits to my life since starting, great bunch of people who have now become friends outside of training, my health and fitness is much better, I'm a far more confident person than before and I feel I'm learning karate from one of the best teachers there is in the world, who just happens to be in Beeston 5 minutes drive from where I live! The facilities are excellent, and training is taught in an expert and patient manner for all ages and sizes.

I have been practicing Karate (on and off) for the last 20 years. I was probably a little spoiled by my initial Dojo and teachers and subsequently kept looking for the right place. When I moved to Nottingham I was quite prepared to settle for something half decent just to have a place to practice. Was I ever impressed when I first stopped by for a class in November 2007. The location and facilities are perfect and all people I met were friendly and approachable. Most importantly Sensei Aidan Trimble has more to teach than most of us will ever have time to learn. His classes are casual enough to allow the newly interested to find their bearings but have the seriousness that is required to achieve great progress. Out of the 20 odd Shotokan Dojos I have trained at in as many years, this is certainly the best for me and probably for many others!
