After a number of years of back problems i went to see an osteopath, who after a couple of sessions recomended yoga as an on-going practice. The Yin style practiced at Mike`s classes has been a real help to regaining confidence and strength in my back, aswell as a whole lot of other places! The lessons are a real tonic mentally to, as Mikes presentation and delivery is so good.

After giving birth to my second child I felt I needed to build my inner core strength up again- your body really does get punished through pregnancy and labour! A friend recommended that I attended Mike's Yin Yoga class - and what a great recommendation. I now have 2 hours a week when I can concentrate on MYSELF. I already (2 months later) feel that my posture and hip stength have improved. The sessions also help me achieve a peace that I am sure both my children and my husband appreciate! Thank you Mike.

I have been practising Yin Yoga (for the first time) at Mike's class for 3 months. In this time I have noticed a improvement in my postures. I feel in everday life I'm able to hold my back straight now (i was once a slumper!) and it comes quite naturally. Mike is very encouraging, profesional, warm, open and generous in the attention given to each person. His enthusiasm shines through as he recognises each individual as having a a unique structure. All of these attributes combine to make an excellent teacher and therefore, a wonderful experience for each student, week after week! Try for yourself!

I went to my First yoga class not really knowing what to expect. Mike is a gentleman and made me feel very welcome. There is a chilled atmosphere during the classes. Since attending Mikes classes I have noticed that my lower back pain is a lot better when driving, as I do about 2500 mile a month. Thanks for the help Mike!

This yoga is a different style to many other types and I have found its the best one I have tried to date! As a builder, I find it quite difficult to relax my back. This yoga does just the job!

I've been attending Mike's classes for over 6 months now, having had back problems last year I started Yoga as a long term natural solution. It's working very well and I'm feel added benifits through out. Mike is a very good instructor who allows you to get the most out of the practice without pushing too far.

Having never heard of yin yoga before i have to say i was a little sceptical initially. However after attending a few lessons i was soon won over. The sequence in which the postures are performed and under Mike's excellent guidance allows for a prolonged and deep strech of the entire body especially in the hip and back area leading to total relaxation.Highly recommended Peter S. 21/5/07

I have been attending Mike's class at Wollaton on Monday evenings for a few weeks now and I have become a convert to this relaxing and therapeutic style of Yoga. Mike is an enthusiastic and excellent teacher who gives masses of information about the poses and their benefits. I was slightly daunted when I heard that poses are held for between one and five minutes but I found I was able to relax into the poses and Mike's comments made the time pass quickly. I am already reaping the benefits of increased flexibility. A fantastic class, both for beginners and more experienced Yoga buffs.

Yin Yoga and Mike was my introduction to yoga and here's where I want to stay. Partly because it supports the individual, creates wonderful peace of mind and boost my energy (feel like walking on air after each class!). Mostly because in Mike's class you will instantly feel a very warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere where everyone is taken very well care of individually. Mike has got the gift of combining warmth and friendliness with excellent and professional teaching skills. In his classes everone is given the same level of attention, friendly respect and professional guidance and support. Thanks a million, Mike

Mike is a wonderful, relaxed, friendly and warm facilitator. He is very good at meeting each individual where they are, which is a real skill. I have been practicing with him for just over a year, and noticed an improvement in my postures within a couple of months. After a class I float home, and the feeling lasts well into the next day. His classes are intimate, meaning you each receive the individual attention that you may need during the session. The best yoga class I have ever been to. Thank you Mike!

The Yin Yoga approach is subtle but deep. Postures held over time allow the body to extend and release much more freely than it would if it was addressed in a more strident way and the result is a wonderful feeling of lightness and ease and refreshment. Mike Morris is an experienced and skillful teacher able to accomodate and encourage all types with understanding and warmth. Not to be missed!

The business says...Mike teaches Yin Yoga, a slow paced deep Yoga practice with Taoist roots. Regular practice of Yin Yoga stretches, stimulates and creates fluidity in the deep connective tissues, fascia, tendons, and ligaments of the body and is particularly effective for working on the hips, back-bends, forward-bends, and twists.
Yoga as practiced in the West is almost exclusively Yang or muscular in nature. The Yin aspect of Yoga (using postures that stretch connective tissue) is virtually unknown but vital for a balanced approach to physical and mental health. The main difference between a Yin and a Yang practice are that postures in the former (Yin) should be done with muscles relaxed and be held a long time (several minutes). This is because connective tissue does not stretch like muscles and will not respond to brief stresses. To get more info on the Yin Yoga method log onto Mike's Website and follow the links found on the 'Links Page.'
Services Offered:Accessible (do-able) to all age ranges and any experience level (including first-timers), Yin Yoga is a simple and direct method which induces deep-body relaxation through using long-held muscularly relaxed floor postures. Regular practice of this method will act as a natural pain reliever, posture corrector and beautifier. It will help fight degenerative dis-ease, arthritis, and backache as well as slowing down the aging process. Perhaps most importantly of all, it will stimulate perception, willpower, and the quality and joy of life in a uniquely healthful and holistic way. All abilities are welcome at Mike's classes. Because of Yin Yoga's non-dogmatic style all physical types will benefit. Those who are more experienced will find the Yin different than active (Yang or muscular) asana practice, and in a way that's more profound and satisfying as well as more beneficial to the deeper tissues. Most classes are held on a drop-in basis and so just turn up at one of the venues (bring a Yoga mat) or phone or email beforehand.
