• Pure cheese

  This place is a bit out of town located near the bus station but if getting a taxi you will be fine. Nottingham uni has its night here on Friday and its the biggest in town with about 2000 people regularly. Its full of very very drunk students all having a laugh and enjoying the cheese. It looks like a large abandoned warehouse with bars scattered around the outside. The drinks are very cheap and serve the useful purpose of getting everyone more drunk. The music is very cheesy and guaranteed to play the baywatch theme! Would only recommend to first years or those not yet out of that stage!

• Cheesy

  Ocean is the epitome of the cheesy student club. Students turn up well on their way to being drunk at 11PM on Friday nights. The emphasis is on cheesy, drunken fun. There would be nothing to enjoy about this club without having a generous amount of alcohol inside you. It's like a bingo club with a dancefloor. The crowds that Ocean attracts are its redeeming feature. The students create a friendly, fun and lively atmosphere. It's just a shame that this club requires binge drinking for such an atmosphere. Listen out for the Teletubbies theme tune, a friend of mine who used to work there told me that in the event of a fire the club would play the Teletubbies to alert staff!

• Doesnt pretend to be something it isnt

  Ocean is a typical cheesy club for students but what I like about it is that it doesn’t pretend to be something its not. You know exactly what you’ll get when you go there and as long as you’ve had plenty (of alcohol) to drink before you get there then you are guaranteed to have a fun night.It is quite a small club and only consists of one floor (usually very sticky) but this has its advantages eg. You wont lose your friends. As long as you go on a student night you know exactly the type of people who will be in there and you’ll prob also know half of their names as it’s the same people who tend to go on the same night on a weekly basis! But, it’s the people that usually make a good night out, not where you are and as the students here always come here just to have a laugh and dance, then you will very rarely leave early having had a bad night.

• Barely enjoyable

  The only time I've ever had a good night here was when societies' hold events here and you get a few free drinks. When empty, this place stinks of carpet cleaner. The music is more often than not the cheesy-indie-'throw in some r'n'b for good effect' mix. Not to my tastes. Another sin - the bar is barely stocked with any decent. Vodka, gin and malibu, along with some bacardi. Beers are there, and a few bottles like smirnoff and vk. Dire. I also dislike getting my drinks in cups. And the floor is sticky. And the crowd it attracts is not particularly great. I hear this place is going to close to make way for redevelopment - hurrah!
