    My 2 daughters started ballet here 18 months ago and they were both made to feel very welcome and have thrived ever since. Now aged 7 and 12 their flexibility has improved incredibly and the classes are fun, yet maintaining the discipline required for this dance. There are many other dance opportunities provided within the school; my daughter has now added tap/stage to her ballet! Plenty of chances to perform and to take graded RAD exams if required, but there is never any pressure!

About Us

Brief description

Based at Gedling Memorial Hall and Performing Arts Centre Wheldon School Carlton. We follow the structured examination syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance and pupils are entered for examinations from Pre Primary to Advanced 2 level. However exams are not compulsory, importance is placed on enjoyment and appreciation of dance as an activity and art form. A Broad training is offered with RAD Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz & Tap, Pre School, Adult Ballet and Jazz classes. Students had gained scholarship places for full time training at the top vocational schools, including the Royal Ballet School and Elmhurst Assoc.School of Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Trade Bodies / Associations

Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD). Principal Dawn King is a member of the RAD regional committee for Midlands and East of England.

New Classes at Gedling Ballet School

New Adult Tap class for beginners starting Sept 2011, (present class now becoming the Advanced Tap Class).

New Adult Ballet class on a Tuesday, to start Sept 2011, this will be an extra adult ballet class providing the option to attend adult ballet twice a week as requested, (and possibility of optional exam).

New extra contemporary class for younger students to start Sept 27th 2011, present contemporary class to change evenings from Wednesday to Tuesday and become Advanced Contemporary.
