Le Mistral

We're regulars at Le Mistral Sherwood and love the easy, friendly atmosphere and tasty food, but on a recent visit to I received a much warmer welcome than I'd bargained for! It was a typical August evening - cold and wet. We hurried in out of the rain and were quickly shown to our table. I put my bag on the table, removed my damp jacket and hung it over my chair when my partner calmly commented that my handbag appeared to be on fire! Stupidly, I'd put it down right next to the candle. After a bit of huffing and puffing the flames were put out and we settled ourselves (with a fair amount of laughter) to enjoy our meal. No-one else seemed to have noticed and the only damage was to my lovely new bag. A memorable evening, and I hope to return many times ... but I shall be wary of those candles in future.

Having learned in Sherwood Forest, all about Robin Hood - makes you feel hungry for good food! The wrong dish was served by the waiter, luckily he brought the right one later! Excellent was the taste and the money we paid not a waste! I really must say, Le Mistral is a place to stay!

Having lived in NYC for 20 years, I'm used to the pleasures of the Sunday brunch at a local neighborhood diner or cafe. How happy was I then to visit Le Mistral in Sherwood on Sunday for a really great (& enormous) cup of coffee, good food and great atmosphere. The service was attentive and well paced. The food was good - although I would recommend some more brunch specials to spice things up - Eggs Benedict, quiche, and maybe even do a themed brunch with breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, etc. I weould also like it if there were Bloody Marys on the menu. Thanks!

Been to this restaurant three times in last 12 months and had something different on menu each time. Absolutely fantastic, well though out and cooked food; amazing atmosphere - cosy, warm, welcoming. Great wine. Really friendly and welcoming staff who put you at ease when choosing wine - I am no wine expert, and they were great at helping us to choose a nice wine to complement our food. What's even better....I now live a 10 minute bus journey from their Sherwood restaurant - I can see I'll be visiting more often now!!!
