  I went to Zizzi's with about 10 or 15 other people for a work night out. I wish I hadn't bothered.The surroundings are beautiful, the staff were professional and very caring, but the food was bland and not worth the money.We got the meal on a two for one offer, and it still wasn't worth the money. It is very expensive and you do not get what you pay for.It's unfortunate that the meal did not match up to the attentiveness and professionalism of the staff, and to the attractive decor.I've eaten there twice previously and the meals were much better. What happened??Will not be visiting again.

• Not My Best Zizzi Experience

  I went to Zizzi in Newark to catch up with an old school friend over lunch. We had both been to different chains of the restaurant before but this time the experience was not quite so good. The food was great and the portions were of a good size although the vegeterian selections were not made very obvious which I think is always a negative to a restaurant. We both shared their classic garlic bread with onions and cheese which was delicious but then they brought out our mains when we had only eaten half of the starter. This put us both off alot as we weren't ready for the pastas so it had to sit there, getting cold while we finished the garlic bread. The restaurant was really quiet which is probably because we went at a lunchtime but we felt like they were trying to hurry us out of the place. We also looked around and the nearby tables were so crammed in, if the place had been full, the person at the table next to us would have been touching our table!The staff seemed very poor and they all looked untrained and uncaring. They didn't look after us very well and they didn't make me feel very welcome. Also, the toilets were a massive trek from the main dining area!!I would go again, but not at lunchtime, and not during the summer while its full of students - better off with Pizza Express accross the road!

• brilliant

  i went with my parents for a meal last night and i have told so many people about how much we all enjoyed it. greated with smiles and very polite, showed to our seats and introduced to the new menu. drinks ordered and food order placed very promptly, and introduced by our waitress. the meal was top noch and the service second to non. i feel the whole experience was fantastic and definitely recommended.
