  • 2 This company is dodgy

Earlier this year, I purchased an electric scooter from this company. It came with no manual. I phoned them to ask for one, and they said they would email it, it never came. Topbox broke after a couple of weeks after ging over a minor pothole. The box came off completely because the screw holes fractured. Chain keeps coming off, so cannot pedal the bike far if the battery goes flat. Battery gives less than half the advertised range. (25-29 miles, I actually get 10-15)Battery was almost 3 years old at time of sale. The warranty sticker was broken on delivery. I should have contacted them straight away, but I didn't. Internally everything was loose and the battery kept cutting out over small bumps. It took me months to fix this problem. You will never be able to buy any equipment with lithium battery where the battery is more than 6 months old (unless secondhand), and these batteries have a lifespan of 2-3 years whether they are used or not. So the battery was at the end of its useful life. They cost over £300 to replace. The do not reply to my correspondence, and trade on the internet under many different names. I only got a reply when I put a negative review after they failed to respond to a letter I posted. Naturally, they replied just after the 6 month warranty expired, and said they had a wrong email address. I have copies of all letters which prove I gave correct contact details. The only good thing is they did give me the bike, and not run off with the cheque. I will now have to take legal action, as i spent nearly £1000. They also charged £70 for delivery to Oxford in their own company van. Complete rip-off. If I had looked on Google street view at their run-down shop before I placed the order, I wouldn't have gone ahead. The place has clearly not been painted since they opened in 1981. I've not seen a store like this. They seem to be a company who just want maximum profit. P.S. Scattergoods, Top Electric Bikes, Poweredbicycles etc I placed a negative review on their website. It never got published. So for each satisfied customer review they publish, we will never know how many unhappy customers they have, as their reviews don't count.

  • 5 The Last Great Shop in Long eaton

As a long time customer i find that this shop is best in long eaton, Staff are friendly helpfull & polite They do the biggest range of electric bikes in the midlands & bring in customers from around the country which is what long eaton could do with as the rest of the town is dying on its feet because of the big superstores taking over from the lil shops. As for parking yeah its hard but if you ask the staff they will point you to the nearest.

  • 0 inconsiderate parking

as a local person to this business i find you can tell a lot about the owners customer relations by looking at how it treats the residents local to its retail outlet .. if this is the case this store must rate poorly as it treats its local neighbours with very little respect as they persistantly park there delivery vans and owners car on the pavement infront of the store restricting disabled and residents with pushchairs passing . despite warnings from police they still do this . surely this does not bode well for future customers
