whilst browsing in the shop very rude, personal nasty comments were made to me and when my friend challenged him he reiterated them, which upset me, i reported the shop to trading standards who say they have had a lot of complaints about daphnes handbags. Needles to say I shall not return. He must be doing really well in these tough times if he can afford to upset people which suggests also a very high mark up so if he doesnt abuse you he just rips you off instead!

This shop has some of the most brilliant vintage gems you will ever find. I spend hours browsing in there. I have heard a few people say , like the previous reviews, that the staff are rather unhelpful or rude. Well, I have been going there for many years, the guy is as camp as a row of tents and is quite the drama queen with it. I think he can be misunderstood and is actually really lovely, It took me a while to win him over but I think after I persisted to smile and chat to him each time I went I'm, eventually he dropped his guard down more and is now perfectly charming. Over the years, they have had more than their fair share of Shoplifters, Weridos and Drunken Chavs as Mansfield Road attracts all sorts of nutters so I suppose this is why he has his guard up. Don't let this put you off, this shop really is vintage heaven!!!! Just be patient with the staff, say hello and smile lots. It is so worth it!!!!

I cannot remember the issue date , but the Face magazine did a survey of the worlds best shops, and Daphneshandbag in Nottingham was in the top 100. If you have never been in try it. I reccomend it! As for the previous reviewers they must have got the wrong shop! as I found the staff very helpful and the prices good!
I contacted by phone Daphne's Handbag to sell a very funky Retro stereo. I was asked very abruptley to e mail a photo of it. I lost the e mail so called back to get it again, the man sounded the same as the previous person, so I asked if he would mind giving me the email address again, to which he said no? I said Pardon me.. He said NO. I said why did you gave it me before, he said that wasnt me..??? Im sure it was.. I then said what shall I do then, he said "I dont know its not my problem" and prompltly put the phone down on me. I was flabbergasted.. I will never visit that shop again, or contact them. If you do approach with caution..
