THE STAFF WAS VERY SLOW, WE HAD TO WAIT 45MIN'S OF OUR MEAL AND IT WAS NOT THAT GOOD. THE BILL WAS ALSO WORRY. WILL NOT BEEN GONE AGAIN
A very disappointing meal - Sunday roast beef was tasteless and tough, the veggies were very underdone and the roast potatoes were cremated on the outside and mush inside - suggesting the food had been frozen and re-heated. The general service was terrible - so slow you had forgotten what you'd ordered when it eventually arrived and we were just preparing to leave when the coffee made an appearance after asking for it three times. A shame as the place was well presented and clean; it seemed very under staffed with no one in particular in charge. Sadly none of our group of five people want to eat here again and could not recommend it to anyone else!
I was really pleasantly surprised when we ate here a few days ago. Two for one main meals are proudly advertised everywhere (it’s a permanent offer) which makes one somewhat sceptical about the quality of the food. However, the steak and ale pie I had was delicious (you could actually taste the ale). Even had a voucher for free dessert off the back of a Morrison’s receipt, which I swapped for a satisfying lemon tart. Seemed to be a good selection of drinks at the bar, but it was midday and we had a drive ahead so wasn’t checking really. The staff were attentive and even changed the channel on the TV to suit the youngest members of the party. A tasty two course meal with a drink for £6…bargain!

My partner and myself often visit the Bridge at Gamston either for a last minute meal out for ourselves or for big family get togethers. The food is pretty much what you'd expect from a pub/restaurant chain.... good and tasty but not spectacular. What makes this place worth a visit is its permanent two for one deal on all main meals. Couple this with the free pudding voucher if your a Morrisons shopper and you can't beat it for value. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the service is good. I went recently with a party of sixteen and the whole bill including two rounds of drinks, side orders and desserts came to around £160. The two waitresses were excellent, fast and efficient. Brilliant! The only downside is that it does get very busy at the weekend and unless you go before 7pm, there can be quite a long wait for food.
14/01/07 Sunday eve: Our party of 8 gathered from different parts of the country andhad a lovely evening. The bar and food sevice were very good - even down to some complimentary drinks from manager Darren. The pub is very spacious and has a good ambience. The menu is varied and excellent value, and a good time was had by all. We will certainly visit again! GEOFF [NORFOLK]
